MSJ11442: Public Relation Campaign
Project Description:
For my course MSJ 11442: PR Campaign,I designed a PR campaign for CETL (Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning) at ULAB, using my fictional PR agency, AAR (Authentic, Active & Radiant). The campaign, titled "What Gen Z Thinks!", aimed to explore and understand Generation Z's perspectives on education through a series of 12 video interviews with ULAB faculty members.
I created a promotional poster that incorporated the CETL and ULAB logos and illustrated digital tools relevant to Gen Z, such as PCs, laptops, and smartphones. The poster's design and campaign strategy were crafted to engage both educational professionals and students effectively.
Through this project, I learned how to develop and execute a PR campaign, including content creation, visual design, and strategic distribution. Managing the campaign for an imaginary client helped me apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios, enhancing my skills in campaign planning, visual communication, and audience engagement. This experience provided valuable insights into the public relations field and demonstrated the importance of aligning campaign objectives with client needs.
Project justification:
The project, titled "What Gen Z Thinks!" for CETL ULAB, was developed to address the evolving educational needs and perspectives of Generation Z. The campaign aimed to bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and the digital-centric approach favored by Gen Z students. By creating a series of video interviews with ULAB faculty, the project sought to provide insights into how educators can adapt to and engage this generation effectively. The accompanying poster and campaign strategy were designed to maximize reach and impact, targeting both educational professionals and students to foster meaningful dialogue and improve educational practices. This project not only aligned with CETL's mission to enhance teaching strategies but also offered a practical application of PR principles learned throughout the course.
Project Learning and Outcome:
From the "What Gen Z Thinks!" campaign for CETL ULAB, I gained valuable insights and practical experience in public relations and campaign management. The project taught me how to effectively design and execute a PR campaign tailored to a specific audience—in this case, Generation Z and their educators. I learned how to create engaging visual content, including a strategically designed poster that aligns with branding guidelines and captures the essence of the campaign.
The project enhanced my skills in stakeholder engagement by planning and conducting interviews with faculty members, which provided a deeper understanding of how to address and communicate with different demographic groups. I also learned the importance of leveraging various digital platforms, such as LinkedIn and Facebook, for targeted distribution and engagement.
The outcome of the campaign was a well-received series of video interviews and promotional materials that successfully highlighted the key themes of Gen Z education and generated meaningful interactions with both educators and students. Overall, the project demonstrated the effectiveness of a comprehensive PR strategy in achieving campaign goals and provided practical experience in creating and managing a successful PR initiative.

Project 14
MSJ11441 Advertising
Project Description:
In my course MSJ11441 Advertising, I created a video on suicide. The aim was to show that suicide is not a solution to any problem. In the video, we aimed to depict the consequences of suicide and other related circumstances.
The primary goal was to create awareness about suicide and motivate the targeted audience. We chose divorce as our subject, focusing on how it can lead to suicide, particularly among women. The video highlighted the correlation between divorce and female suicide, presenting a statistic where the ratio of female suicide was 3.70.
One of the major causes of female suicide cases is divorce. In our Bengali society, divorce is often viewed as a curse. Society tends to harass and blame women, questioning their character in various ways. This societal pressure makes life unbearable for many women, leading to suicide.
In our video, we emphasized education as a means of motivation. We showed how women can overcome these challenges and find motivation for their future. By continuing their education and focusing on future opportunities, women can potentially decrease the rate of female suicide. Additionally, it is crucial for society to understand the severe impact of blaming and harassing divorced women, as it can drive them to take their own lives.
Project Justification :
The video on suicide, focusing on the impact of divorce on women, successfully raised awareness and sparked meaningful conversations about this critical issue. Viewers gained a deeper understanding of the emotional distress divorced women face and the importance of supporting them rather than condemning them.
It resonated well with the audience, highlighting education as a means of empowerment and encouraging advocacy for greater educational opportunities for women.
The video prompted discussions on the need for societal change, emphasizing community support in preventing suicide. Overall, the project achieved its goal of raising awareness and initiated a broader dialogue on compassion, education, and societal support for divorced women.
Learning & Outcome :
In creating a video on suicide for my MSJ11441 Advertising course, I focused on how education can serve as a powerful motivator for women dealing with the aftermath of divorce. The project highlighted the dire consequences of suicide, especially among women facing societal stigma and pressure. I discovered that divorce often leads to severe emotional distress due to societal judgment, which can escalate to suicidal thoughts. By choosing education as a focal point, I aimed to show how pursuing knowledge and personal growth can provide hope and a path forward, offering women a way to overcome their challenges. I learned how effective media can be in raising awareness and initiating important conversations about sensitive issues. By focusing on the link between divorce and female suicide, the project not only deepened my appreciation for the importance of supportive societal attitudes but also reinforced my belief in the power of education to inspire and uplift those facing challenging circumstances. This experience underscored the need for compassion and systemic support to address and prevent issues related to mental health and societal judgment. The approach also underscored the importance of supportive societal attitudes and educational opportunities in preventing suicide, making me realize how crucial it is to address underlying issues with constructive solutions.

MSJ-11214
Convergence Communication 1
Project Description
The project, titled "Harassment" is a performance based visual work that illustrates a form of digital harassment related to online shopping. It was created as part of a group project under the CI (Convergence Communication) theme of Digital Citizenship. The creator used simple materials such as a smartphone, a tripod, product boxes (like a mobile phone and perfume boxes), and a small table to produce a short video. The setting was the creator’s own room, and the production involved help from the creator’s mother and remote collaboration with a team member.
The video demonstrates the frustration customers experience when online sellers change the name of their sales pages, making it difficult for buyers to repurchase previously available products. This results in a form of consumer harassment where people must search for new shops to buy the same product again. The video, though simple and only 8 seconds long, conveys this message by showing a hand reaching for a familiar product, only to find something else in its place, symbolizing the disorientation and inconvenience experienced by consumers.
The project was showcased via YouTube and received a limited but engaged audience. Viewers provided constructive feedback, pointing out that the message was understood but could be made more impactful with better graphics, editing, and a more descriptive title like “Product Harassment.”
Project Justification
The creator chose the theme of harassment to highlight a specific issue within the broader context of digital citizenship. With the increasing dependence on online shopping, unethical practices by some online sellers—like constantly renaming or rebranding their pages to avoid accountability—have become a nuisance. This causes confusion and inconvenience for consumers who cannot find previously purchased products, ultimately amounting to a form of digital harassment.
By selecting this theme, the creator aimed to raise awareness about this overlooked aspect of digital behavior. The intent was not only to address consumer rights but also to prompt online merchants to consider more ethical business practices, such as maintaining consistent branding or setting up dedicated pages for different product categories. The project is a personal call to action, encouraging digital citizens to think critically about how online interactions and practices affect everyday life, especially in a commercial context.
Learning Outcomes:
The project demonstrated a clear grasp of digital citizenship, highlighting how online behaviors and platform practices impact consumer rights and dignity.
It explored the ethical responsibilities of online sellers and the implications of deceptive or inconsistent branding practices.
By choosing the theme of online harassment through misleading product sales, the project raised awareness of a subtle yet important issue in digital commerce.
The concept reflects a critical analysis of how online platforms can create confusion and dissatisfaction among customers, leading to a form of digital harassment.
Feedback collection from viewers revealed engagement with the artwork, and suggestions (like renaming to “Product Harassment”) showed constructive reflection.

The podcast aims to address this by sharing valuable information about cars. Adib Chowdhury, one of the creators, possesses extensive knowledge about cars, which will be shared in the podcast.
Learning Outcome:
Understanding the difference between hybrid and non-hybrid cars.
Identifying valuable mid-range budget cars in Bangladesh.
Determining appropriate engine oil grades for cars in Bangladesh during winter and summer seasons.

Project 04
MSJ11203 Communication and Technology
Project Description:
The project is about Non-violent Communication, a communication approach developed by psychologist Marshall Rosenberg. NVC emphasizes empathy, compassion, and honesty. It encourages individuals to express their feelings and needs clearly while considering the feelings and needs of others, rather than using language to criticize, blame, or manipulate. NVC consists of four key components: observation, feelings, needs, and requests.
Project Justification:
Non-violent Communication is a powerful tool for resolving conflict, building relationships, and creating mutual understanding. It teaches us to listen deeply and respond with empathy, which is especially important in times of conflict. NVC has been used to reduce misunderstandings and promote peace in various settings, including families, workplaces, and international diplomacy. In a world often dominated by aggressive or passive-aggressive communication, NVC offers a path to more respectful and fulfilling interactions. By adopting NVC, we can create environments where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered, building stronger connections and fostering a more compassionate world.
Project learning outcome:
1.Understand the core components of Non-violent Communication: observation, feelings, needs, and requests.
2.Learn to observe situations without judgment or evaluation.
3.Develop the ability to express feelings clearly and honestly.
4.Identify the needs underlying feelings.
5.Make clear and respectful requests.
Project 03
MSJ-11213 Principles of Public Relations.\
Project Description
This project explores the theme of violent and nonviolent communication within the family dynamic, specifically focusing on the communication gap between parents and children. Using the theoretical framework of Face-Negotiation Theory by Stella Ting-Toomey, it highlights how lack of effective communication can lead to misunderstandings, stress, and even behavioral issues such as substance abuse in youth. The creative element of this project—a mask installation—serves as a symbolic representation of both the verbal impact of parental expectations and the emotional consequences children endure in silence.
The mask features dual expressions: one representing the parent’s words and expectations, and the other showing the resulting emotional distress of the child. This visual metaphor emphasizes the importance of understanding, empathy, and open dialogue. Through this creative expression, the project encourages parents to adopt more supportive and friendly communication styles, enabling their children to share their thoughts without fear or hesitation.
Project Justification
The justification for this project stems from the rising concerns around youth mental health, emotional isolation, and harmful coping mechanisms such as drug use—often rooted in poor communication with guardians. As academic pressure and societal comparisons increase, many children face psychological stress that is frequently misunderstood or dismissed by parents. By integrating communication theory with artistic expression, this project provides a visually impactful and emotionally resonant message that seeks to educate and inspire both parents and children.
The use of visual art as a medium enables the message to transcend language and academic barriers, making it more relatable to a broader audience. Moreover, by addressing real-life struggles in a creative context, the project not only raises awareness but also fulfills the core objective of Curriculum Integration (CI) to bridge classroom learning with real-world social issues through creativity and critical thinking.
Project Learning Outcomes
1.Identify the advantages of using the World Wide Web and social media to enhance public relations strategies and campaigns.
2. Analyze what makes a successful social media channel and how it contributes to building public trust and engagement.
3. Differentiate between proactive and reactive media relations and understand how to manage communication during both normal and crisis situations.
4. Recognize the responsibilities and rights of PR spokespersons when dealing with the news media, focusing on integrity, transparency, and strategic communication.
5. Define CSR and explain its four dimensions—economic, legal, ethical, and discretionary—and how they contribute to sustainable business practices.
Project 2 MSJ11211 Mass Communication
Project Description
This project explores how communication gaps between guardians and their children can lead to violent or harmful communication patterns. Inspired by the Face-Negotiation Theory of Stella Ting-Toomey, it delves into how individuals manage their self-image (positive and negative faces) during conflict, especially in family settings. The project reflects on the emotional and psychological challenges faced by youth when their voices are not heard or their preferences disregarded by their parents.
A creative expression of this concept was executed through the design of a dual-themed face mask. One side represents the words or pressure from guardians, and the other side depicts the emotional effect on children. The artwork highlights issues such as stress, depression, substance abuse, and emotional isolation stemming from lack of understanding and support at home.
The project was carried out as part of the Curriculum Integration (CI) program of ULAB’s Media Studies and Journalism Department, under the Summer 2021 theme: violent/nonviolent communication. The artistic and reflective nature of the project helped the student express personal insights while engaging with theoretical concepts and real-life issues.
Project Justification
The justification for this project lies in addressing a crucial social and psychological issue faced by many young individuals: the breakdown of effective communication with parents or guardians. In many families, children are pressured to conform to academic or career expectations without being given emotional support or freedom of choice. This often results in stress, rebellion, or even the adoption of harmful coping mechanisms such as drug use or self-isolation.
By visualizing this conflict through a symbolic face mask, the project offers a powerful message to guardians—urging them to communicate like friends, not enforcers, and to support their children’s interests. The project contributes to awareness about mental health and parental influence on youth development, which aligns with the CI theme and encourages emotional intelligence, empathy, and mutual respect within families.
Project Learning Outcomes
Identify how communication gaps between guardians and children can lead to misunderstandings, stress, and even harmful behavior.
Analyze real-life familial communication through the lens of Face-Negotiation Theory and other mass communication principles.
Explore how words and attitudes from guardians can deeply affect the emotional well-being and future decisions of young individuals.
Recognize the value of supportive, friendly communication between parents and children as a tool for preventing mental health issues and harmful behavior.
Use visual storytelling techniques (mask-making, painting, and installation) to represent abstract communication concepts in a tangible form.
Gain insight into personal strengths and limitations through hands-on artistic creation and independent project execution.
Project 01
MSJ 11102 Communication Research
Project Description:
The project titled "Music Listening Habit Among Youth" explores the evolving relationship between Bangladeshi youth and contemporary music. It examines how music, as a cultural expression, has transformed in the wake of globalization and digital advancements. The study focuses on identifying youth preferences, the influence of different musical genres, and the impact of global musical trends on local music consumption. Special attention is given to the changing platforms and contexts in which music is experienced, such as live performances, streaming platforms, and cultural events. By analyzing the listening habits of young people, the project aims to shed light on how music continues to shape identity, emotion, and social connection in modern Bangladesh.
Project Justification:
Music has always played a pivotal role in shaping the cultural identity of Bangladesh. In recent years, however, traditional music genres—particularly folk music—have seen a noticeable decline in popularity among the youth, being replaced or overshadowed by globally influenced music trends. This shift raises concerns about the preservation of cultural heritage and the meaning embedded in music as a form of communication. Understanding the music listening habits of youth is crucial in this transitional phase, as it not only reflects broader social and cultural changes but also informs future educational and creative strategies. By investigating these habits, this study aims to contribute to the discourse on cultural sustainability and the role of music in developing emotional intelligence, creativity, and human connection among the younger generation.
Learning outcome:
1.Analyze how contemporary music in Bangladesh has transformed from classical roots to modern fusion influenced by globalization.
2. Explore the music preferences and habits of the young generation, particularly how digital platforms and cultural integration shape those habits.
3. Assess how international musical trends and productions like Wind of Change influence Bangladeshi youth and local music industry.
4. Gain experience in academic research by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data relevant to communication and cultural studies.
5. Identify the role of meaningful lyrics in effective musical communication and its connection to listener engagement.
6. Learn how music can convey cultural values, emotions, and social messages across various platforms and settings.
